About Me
Hello there
My name is Anne (nicknames: (Le)Meep, Annika), I'm 27 years old and live in Constance, Germany. Find out more about me through my blog "Meep's Musings".
The Corrs
My first encounter with the Corrs was years ago, maybe around 1995/1996, when they released "Runaway". I heard this song on the radio one time, was enchanted and bought it right away.
It did take another 2 years before I heard of them again, this time with "What Can I Do", and you guess it, I also bought this single straight after I heard it on the radio. I didn't think about buying one of their albums, though (and today I wonder why!).
From time to time, I stumbled over them again, on a charity TV show (also performing "What Can I Do"), and on the radio, this time in concert ("Ohne Filter", 1998). Yet it took me some months before I bought my first Corrs album: "Unplugged".
I loved "Unplugged" from the start, and it is still one of my favourite albums. Soon after that, I went into the next music store and walked out with "Forgiven Not Forgotten" and "Talk On Corners Special Edition". I listened to them without end and could hardly wait till July 2000, when their new album "In Blue" would be published. Sadly, I was traveling on the very first day it was sold but of course, I bought it only one day later. At first I was actually horrified by what had happened to "my" band - where was the violin, the tin whistle? What the hell were they doing with Shania Twain's producer? Why did Andrea suddenly sound like Shania herself? "In Blue" is by far the most controversial Corrs' album in my opinion, and while there are songs on it I adore ("Give Me A Reason" for example), it also features tracks which I constantly skip (the likes of e.g. "Irresistible").
Then, when VH-1 announced their live performance in March 2002, I almost ruined my parents by listening to the internet streaming four days in a row: sure I bought the imported album for a horrendous price only little later. I loved the guest appearances, I loved what they did with the cover versions. Even "Would You Be Happier?" and "Breathless", two of my less favourite songs, suddenly sounded good.
The hype started all over again when rumors said a new album was likely to be released in winter 2003, which became spring 2004 and then finally - and officially - summer 2004: "Borrowed Heaven", their fourth studio album, made its way into my heart firstly through 30-second sound samples from the internet. Since having heard the whole album, it has quickly become one of my favourites.
While having the luck of attending a Corrs concert in 2005, I already heard some of the new songs from their upcoming album "Home" and liked them very much. The whole album is a welcome break in the line of other Corrs' music and shows once again what excellent musicians they are.
