Sharon Corr

Sharon Corr

Sharon is the oldest sister of the three and usually plays the violin. Usually fits because in the past, she has been seen on the piano (for "Closer" during the "Forgiven Not Forgotten" tour) and on the guitar (for "Somebody for Someone" during the "In Blue" tour). And when she doesn't do all that, she sings the backing vocals or along with Andrea sometimes. She can prove her voice in "No Frontiers" together with Caroline and alone on "Dimming Of The Day", a very beautiful ballad. Her skills on the violin are so mastered she can teach violin playing, and Sharon is proud she has only missed one hour of violin lessons in her whole life. Almost every Corrs song features a violin part for Sharon, the most beautiful in "Forgiven Not Forgotten, "Somebody for Someone", "I Never Loved You Anyway" and many more.

Sharon, sometimes called "the ice maiden" or the "chatter box", admits she's addicted to smoking and coffee, but there are no photos of her smoking anywhere... She is the first Corr who tied the knots: she has married her fiance Gavin Bonnar in July 2001. This has so far not influenced her activities with the band and will very likely never do so, because she has met Gavin back when the video for "Runaway" was shot and they have been a couple ever since.

After it became known she was pregnant in autumn 2005, Sharon gave birth to a baby boy on March 31st, 2006 at 12:45PM. The little fellow is called Cal, full name Cathal Robert Gerard, and weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces. On July 18th, 2007, she gave birth to her second child, a daughter called Flori Jean Elizabeth.

Totally concentrated on music, Sharon has - unlike her youngest sister Andrea - never considered being an actress. Despite this, she is credited in "The Commitments" together with her siblings, but she has to admit that even she herself doesn't always find her onscreen, her role is too small. Sharon is perfectly happy with working together with other musicians such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Queen or U2.

From Sharon
