Trivia
The debut album features many classics: "Runaway", "Forgiven Not Forgotten", "The Right Time", "Love To Love You", "Closer" and the first, short version of "Joy Of Life", here listed as "Carraroe Jig", which is an integral part of every concert.
"Runaway", the Corrs' debut single, hit the British charts only at #49. Considering almost all Corrs' singles with only very few exceptions never crack the top ten, this is not really a bad result.
In the beginning of "Leave Me Alone", some lines are played backwards. When reversed, the phrase "Leave Me Alone" can be heard:
Some explanations about the traditional songs:
- "(Lough) Erin Shore" is the description of a special kind of Irish shore where a part of the sea is almost surrounded by land, "Erin" = "Irish" (old word)
- "Minstrel" = traveling musician or anyone else performing an amusing show
- "Carraroe Jig" = named after the Irish town of Carraroe located on the Western shore of Ireland (also known as "Joy Of Life" & "Trout In The Bath")
"Forgiven Not Forgotten" was sold over 5 million times worldwide and reached 13 times platinum in Ireland, as well as multiple platinum in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Denmark and Spain. In other countries like Japan, Singapore, Sweden, the USA or Canada, it reached gold.
Together with its successor, "Talk On Corners", it occupied the #1 and #2 spot of the UK charts in 1998; something which hadn't happened since the Beatles in the 1960s.
