Just one day after this video was shot, the Corrs were also filming the video for their next single, "The Right Time". However, Atlantic US skipped "Forgiven Not Forgotten" and didn't release it as a single.
The theme for the video is kind of dark and brooding which fits to the more serious lyrics about someone who has committed suicide and left someone else behind. The band is all dressed in black, the girl's makeup is very pale and there is not a lot of smiling. The video itself is pretty lowkey but yet effective in showing the Corrs on a rotating platform with various landscapes appearing behind them. Though supposed to convey some of that special Irish pop/celtic mix, "Forgiven Not Forgotten" was shot in California, near Santa Monica to be exact.
Not only did the platform make some of the viewers nauseous but also Andrea who felt kind of sea sick after being on that circling stage for hours- the shoot took from about 7am to 11pm!
Trivia
As there were never any lyrics published with "Forgiven Not Forgotten" (the album), there used to be a lot of speculation about one special line of the lyrics: the "one eyed furry toy" was also heard as "one eyed fairy toy", "one eyed fairy boy" or "one eyed fairy tollway". Only after the official site posted the original lyrics, these specualtions came to an end.
The short intro for this song is called "Erin Shore". There is also a longer version of this intro which is called "Lough Erin Shore" and is one of the many traditional Irish tunes the Corrs are always playing at their concerts.
B-side track "Forgiven Not Forgotten" in the live acoustic version was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden.
