January 2005

Meteor nomination | Jan. 14

The Corrs are nominated for a Meteor, the most important Irish Music Award, in the category "Irish Pop".

"Wetten, dass...?" | Jan. 15

In other news, the Corrs will be appearing on "Wetten, dass...?" on January 22nd (the show starts at 20:15 CET and is broadcast on German TV (ZDF), Austrian TV (ORF) and Swiss TV (SF)). The Corrs make up for last October where the band had had to cancel their performance due to Sharon being ill, but this time they will join host Thomas Gottschalk in Hannover and present their new single "Long Night". It seems that they will be complete again this time, i.e. Caroline will be there!

Andrea supports charity | Mar. 17

As Andrea has lately revealed, the Corrs are back in the studio to record an album with classic Irish tunes, and Andrea is involved in "Tin whistles for Teachers", an initiative to bring music back to the schools.

Concert in Bonn | Apr. 13

The official site has confirmed that the Corrs will be giving a concert in Bonn again on June 29th, 2005. Tickets can be purchased through www.kartenhaus.de or www.ticketonline.de. You can also check out more information about the location at the Kunsthalle's official website.

Sharon on Kelly | May 11

Sharon at 46664 Artic | May 12

Additionally to her appearance on Kelly tomorrow, Sharon has been confirmed to take part in the 46664 ARCTIC concert in Tromsų on 11th June. The Corrs as a whole band have been playing at the 2003 46664 concert in South Africa. For more information visit 46664.com.

Concert in Monte Carlo | May 25

Two more concerts in July have been announced: the Corrs will be performing on July 2nd and 3rd in Monte Carlo at the Sporting Summer festival. Tickets are 80 € and 145 €. More information...

"At Your Side" for charity | May 28

The Corrs have contributed a song ("At Your Side") to the fundraiser CD "Peace for Ireland - One Child at a Time" from the "Project Children". The album is limited to 5,000 copies and can only be purchased via the project's website. Apart from the Corrs, many other famous Irish artists have kindly provided songs for the CD, whose proceedings go directly to "Project Children".

June 2005

Concert in Paris | Jun. 4

It has been just announced the Corrs will perform another concert on June 24th, in Paris. French radio station RTL2 is organizing the event which also features other artists like Nathalie Imbruglia or Lenny Kravitz.

Corrs at Live8 in Edinburgh | Jun. 17

As the official site announces, the Corrs will take part in the "Live 8" concert on July 6th in Edinburgh, among many other artists like Texas, Annie Lennox or Beverly Knight. For more information, also on how to purchase tickets for this event, go to the Live 8 site.

New album title and release date | Jun. 30

News about the upcoming album: it will rather certainly be called "Home" and feature at least four new songs with the names of "My Lagan Love", "Heart Like A Wheel", "Black Is The Colour" and "Old Hag you killed me". Andrea announced the release for probably September/October 2005.

July 2005

Corrs at Live8 | Jul. 7

The Corrs performed "Breathless" and "When The Stars Go Blue" together with surprise guest Bono on stage of the "Live8 - The final push" concert in Edinburgh yesterday to a cheering crowd.

"Home" German release date | Jul. 15

The German official site has announced a release date for the new album "Home": September 19th in Germany.

"Home" details | Aug. 7

"Home" cover - First single | Aug. 23

The art work for "Home" has surfaced on the internet: check out the album cover. And a single has been announced: it appears to be the classic "Old Town", set to be played on the radio starting the end of August.

"All The Way Home" DVD | Aug. 24

The long rumoured new DVD, presumably from the concert in Geneva in 2004 ("Borrowed Heaven" tour), has a title: "The Corrs - All The Way Home / Live In Geneva" and a release date: October 31st in the UK.

"Don't come knocking" | Aug. 24

Andrea has worked with her good friend Bono from U2 again, this time for Wim Wender's new movie "Don't come knocking" - the duet has the same title.

Documentary on Biography channel | Aug. 27

The British biography channel will broadcoast a 30 minute feature about the Corrs on Monday, September 5th, at 6:30PM.

Andrea in a new movie | Aug. 30

Rumour has it that Andrea may star in a "spiritual horror movie", yet unnamed, shot in India, along side Saffron Burrows and Linus Roache. Shooting apparently starts in September.

September 2005

"Old Town" video | Sept. 4

There is some confusion about the alleged single "Old Town", which apparently will not have an official video. The video for this song which has surfaced on a Spanish TV channel appears to be have been made by the channel itself.

"Return to Fingall" bonus track only | Sept. 4

Also it seems to be clear now that the track "Return to Fingall" will only be available on the Japanse/Australian release of "Home", shortening the European track list of the CD to 12.

"Home" EPK available | Sept. 6

The official site has posted the Electronic Press Kit for "Home" as a video in which you can hear snippets from the album and the band talk about it.

New DVD pushed back | Sept. 7

The new DVD "The Corrs - All The Way Home / Live In Geneva" has been pushed back to November 14th, 2005.

Yet a third version of the "Home" cover has surfaced. This one brings back the violin player between Andrea and Sharon but adds the yellow butterflies from the second cover.

Popkomm competition | Sept. 9

The official German site has put up a competition in which you can win tickets for pre-listening of "Home" during the Popkomm (music fair in Berlin). Winners will be announced after September 12th, and it appears as if Jim and Caroline will be attending the event, too.

Sharon pregnant? | Sept. 18

A popular Irish radio station has let it slip that Sharon, the Corrs' violin player, is expecting a child in April. That may also be the reason why there will be no tour for the upcoming album "Home". Please note that this is best treated as a rumour until it has been officially confirmed!

Promotion for "Home" | Sept. 20

Promotion for "Home" is finally springing to life with various radio interviews Jim is giving today on various radio stations in Northern Ireland, among them Cool FM with Paul Kennedy, Downtown Radio with Robert Skates, BBC Ulster with George Jones, Q102.9 FM with Rosemarie Gallagher and Belfast City Beat with Joanne Stein. Plus this Thursday, catch Andrea and Jim on RTE Radio 1 with Pat Kenny. The show starts at 10am and is streamed at RTE's website.

Stylorouge clips | Sept. 28

The production company which is responsible for both the design of "Home" and the upcoming DVD "All The Way Home" have made two promotion clips available on their website. One is an ad for the album, the other a short sequence from the DVD documentary.

"The Bridge" screening | Sept. 29

As director Richard Raymond has revealed, Andrea's movie "The Bridge" will be shown at a private film screening (by invitation only). It will take place on September 30th in London, but Andrea will unfortunately not be present since she is still busy with her newest film "The Thread".

Andrea receives IFTA nomination | Sept. 30

Lead singer Andrea has been nominated for an Irish Film & Television Award (IFTA) in the category "Best actress in a Feature Film" in recognition of her role in "The Boys and Girl from County Clare". The award ceremony show will be broadcast on Irish channel RTE1 on November 5th, 9.30PM (GMT).

Caroline and Jim in Spain | Sept. 30

One half of the group, namely Jim and Caroline are currently in Spain to do some promotion for "Home". Apparently there is an interview scheduled to be broadcast on "MTV Select" this week (runs mondays to fridays at 5.30PM (GMT+1)) with probably more to come. "Disfruta Los Corrs" has a very nice interview with both of them by the Spanish news agency EFE.

October 2005

TV appearances | Oct. 3

Catch the band on TV: on October 24th, they will be on ITV's GMTV, and on November 26th, the Corrs perform at Mastercard's "One Priceless Night" (aired on Channel 4).

For all fans living in Germany, the German official site has started a competition in which you can win a meet and greet with the band as a first prize. "Home" in the charts | Oct. 7

Two weeks after its release, the Corrs' new album "Home" has entered the charts around the globe. Here are some charts positions: Spain #8, Germany #12, UK #14, Ireland #2, France #8, Italy #37, Japan #58, Switzerland #7, Austria #13, Canada #91, Belgium #38 and finally Netherlands #15. Considerung promotion was rather limited, this is definitely a success.

Jim supports World Sight Day | Oct. 11

On October 13th is World Sight Day, and Jim supports the international blindness prevention charity ORBIS to help in their fight against avoidable blindness. He talks openly about his own struggle with a bad eye as a child and urges everyone to visit www.orbis.org.uk on Thursday to see what each can do to help.

"The Bridge" nomination | Oct. 21

Andrea's latest movie "The Bridge" has received a nomination for "Best Short International" from the Folye Film Festival, which takes place from November 11 - 20th. It also seems as if the DVD will be released around Christmas this year.

"Home" reaches gold | Oct. 23

The latest album "Home" has gone gold in France just four weeks after its release. It has also sold over 60,000 copies in the UK already.

Ondas awards | Oct. 22

The Corrs will receive this year's Special Jury Award at the Ondas awards in Spain, which rewards outstanding achievements in radio, television, film and music every year. They will collect the award plus throw in a performance on November 3rd. The show is broadcast at 8:00PM on Canal Plus Spain.

"Heart Like A Wheel" out today | Oct. 24

The latest single from the album "Home", called "Heart Like A Wheel", is released today in the UK. It features the second A-side "Old Town" as well.

Andrea at the IFTAs | Nov. 2

Britain honours the Corrs | Nov. 4

The band will be awarded an Honorary MBE (=Member of the Empire) by Queen Elizabeth of England, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the music industry and of their charitable contributions. The British Ambassador to Ireland, Stewart Eldon, will present the award in Dublin at 11:30AM on Monday, November 7.

1 million sales in Ireland | Nov. 17

Last Friday the Corrs were presented with a plaque commemorating 1 million album sales in Ireland. Considering Ireland only has about 4 million inhabitans, that's certainly a great achievement. U2 are the only other Irish band ever to have done so as well.
