January 2007

Andrea's solo album | Jan. 11

According to Hotpress, Andrea's solo album will feature at least one cover version: "Take Me I'm Yours", originally by Squeeze. All the other songs were written by herself and apparently there will be no traditional instruments like tin whistle involved. Also the release date has been pushed back to late Spring 2007, and the title "Present" might still be subject to change.

'Broken Thread' at the Berlinale | Jan. 25

Conquistador Worldwide Media, the company that distributes Andrea's latest movie "Broken Thread", have announced they will screen the film at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) from February 8 - 18, 2007. "Broken Thread" will be shown on Thursday, February 8th at 1:30PM (13:30) and on Thursday, February 13 at 10AM (10:00). For more info, visit the detailed screening schedule!

February 2007

'Ten Feet High': out in summer! | Feb. 8

After much speculation about the title and release date, both facts have finally been confirmed by the official website: Andrea's solo CD will be called "Ten Feet High" and will be out early summer 2007. Also confirmed were Nellee Hooper as producer and the cover version "Take Me I'm Yours" originally by Squeeze.

The Corrs in Brussels? | Feb. 10

Various news sources are reporting that the Corrs will appear at the big birthday celebrations for the 50th jubilee of the Treaty of Rome, which will take place in Brussels on March 24, 2007. It is unsure whether they will actually perform or appear at all until it is confirmed by the official site. The whole concert itself will be broadcast live on television in Europe. Note! As the official website has just announced, the Corrs will NOT make an appearance in Brussels.

Sharon expecting second child | Feb. 22

According to newspaper Irish Daily Mail, Sharon has announced her second pregancy. She is due with either a brother or sister for her son Cal in late summer 2007. Congratulations to the happy couple Sharon and Gavin!

'Shame On You' Andrea's first single | Mar. 6

Amazon.com lists Andrea's first single as being called "Shame On You" and released on June 7th, 2007. The album from which the song is taken from, called "Ten Feet High", is listed with the release date of May 31st, 2007. You can pre-order the single and/or pre-order the album, though notice both are listed as imports!

Andrea's solo album "Ten Feet High", which is due to be released in early summer 2007, now has a definite tracklisting and cover art. The tracks are as following:

New Andrea promo pictures and first song | Apr. 3

In order to promote Andrea Corr's upcoming solo album, entitled "Ten Feet High" and scheduled for release in June in Europe, some promo pictures have appeared:

One of the new songs, called "Hello Boys", has also been available on Andrea's bepo profile. The song can still be downloaded (right-click and select "Save target as..."). According to Andrea, "Hello Boys" is about a special madam in a brothel and shows quite a sexy and sultry side of her.

'The Boys and Girl from County Clare' on DVD in Germany | Apr. 4

On April 27th, 2007, Andrea's movie "The Boys and Girl from County Clare" from 2003 will be available on DVD (in a dubbed version) in Germany. You can pre-order the DVD at Amazon.de.

More Andrea song samples | Apr. 4

Two more sound samples of new songs from "Ten Feet High", Andrea's debut album, have been added to her bepo profile. The songs in question are "Anybody There" and "Shame On You", her first single (Note: has been removed since). They show more of the announced versatility of the album, being quite different from "Hello Boys".

You can now listen to three full songs from Andrea's upcoming solo album "Ten Feet High" on her bepo profile page. Jim supports new cancer charity book | Apr. 24

Jim has backed a charity book created by Belfast photographer Cliff Mason aimed at raising funds for the cancer hospice which nursed his dying mother. The book called 'Travelogue' is a collection of his professional holiday snaps and has so far raised £ 1,500 for the Marie Curie Centre. Jim has helped the project by sponsoring printing costs. Copies of the book have a minimum suggested donation of £ 5. To order a copy, email avalonireland@yahoo.ie.

Andrea on the internet | Apr. 24

In order to promote her upcoming solo album "Ten Feet High", Andrea resp. her management have finally launched her MySpace profile, where you can listen to sound samples and look at her promotion pictures. Andrea's latest movie "Broken Thread" now also has its official website, which offers images, a synopsis and some background info on the film.

Listen to 'Shame On You' unplugged | May 2

As part of the promotion for her upcoming solo album "Ten Feet High", Andrea Corr has given an interview to Swiss radio station "Radio 1 Basel". The interview itself will be broadcast at the beginning of June, but you can already listen to an acoustic version of Andrea's first single "Shame On You".

With the release of her solo album just around the corner, Andrea has launched her official website, which can be reached at www.andreacorr.co.uk/. You can listen to sound samples, watch the video for her upcoming single "Shame On You" and discuss with other fans on the official message board.

Andrea on GMTV - UPDATE! | Jun. 9

On June 11th (next Monday), Andrea will make an appearance on ITV's "GMTV". The show starts at 7 A.M. and will be hosted by Andrew Castle and Fiona Phillips. UPDATE!: After her interview on Monday, Andrea will also be available for a webchat on the GMTV website. You can send in your own questions beforehand if you can't take part in the chat, which starts at 9:25 A.M..

Online shop Play.com lists a new compilation by the Corrs entitled "The Corrs - The Works", which is a three CD set tentatively scheduled for release in August 2007. This item is still subject to change.

Andrea at AOL | Jul. 22

This last Friday (July 20th), a few lucky fans had the chance to witness an exclusive acoustic performance by Andrea for AOL. The recording took place in The Hospital Club in Covent Garden, London, and the setlist was as follows:

  3. The Needle and the Damage Done
  4. Ten Feet High
  5. Shame On You
  6. Stupidest Girl In The World

"The Needle and the Damage Done" is a cover of a Neil Young song first released in 1972 and dealing with addiction and its negative consequences. Apparently the whole session will be made available on AOL in September.

Sharon a mum again | Jul. 27

The Corrs' violinist Sharon has given birth to her second child, a daughter named Flori Jean Elizabeth, on July 18th. The happy parents and daughter are all well and happy. Congratulations from all the fans!

Andrea will release a second single from her debut album 'Ten Feet High': up-tempo song 'Champagne From A Straw' will hit the download stores (iTunes et al) on August 27th, 2007.

October 2007

Andrea to give concert in Spain | Oct. 10

On September 23rd, 2007, Andrea will perform in Barcelona at the Festival of Barcelona (Les Festes de la Mercè). The concert is scheduled for 10PM at the Plaça de Catalunya, and admission is free! Apart from Andrea, El Sueño de Morfeo and Nena Daconte will also be on the stage. You can watch Andrea's performance on the internet.

Andrea in Tenerife | Oct. 23

As part of her promotional tour of Spain, Andrea will give another performance, this time for "Tenerife 40 Pop" on November 10th, 2007. The show which takes place in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (on the isle of Tenerife) features other artists such as Nek, Motel, Marta Sánchez, David Demaría, Conchita, Diego Martín, Despistaos and La Vieja Morla. Corrs comeback in 2008? | Oct. 24

Irish tabloids Irish Daily Mirror and Daily Irish Mail have reported the Corrs are planning a comeback album and tour in summer 2008, after Andrea's solo album has failed to make an impact on the charts. According to the articles, the Corrs' record company is prepared to give them a huge budget for the album so the band can tie in with its previous successes in the 90s. Please keep in mind these are unconfirmed rumours by less than reliable sources, so take these news with a grain of salt!

Jim supports Outreach Moldova | Oct. 27

Jim will be at an exclusive charity event in Dublin this weekend: Nobu (London restaurant) hosts a gala dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge to raise money for Outreach Moldova, a Dublin-based charity that works with 500 disabled orphaned children in the eastern European country.

Tenerife gig UPDATE! | Nov. 14

Meteor Award nomination for Andrea UPDATE! | Nov. 30 '08

Andrea has been nominated for "Best Irish Female Artist" at the Meteor Irish Music Awards. UPDATE! Unfortunately, Andrea did not win - she was beat by Cathy Davey.
